To register a new user account, you need a valid e-mail address. E-mail verification is a common way of ensuring that an account was created by a real person. You can also order a new password for your registered e-mail address, if you forget the old one.
If you have problems registering or verifying your account, please visit www.environment.fi and click on the Feedback link at the bottom of the page, to ask the Järviwiki administrators for help.
Creating a new user account
To get started, first click "Log in/create account" on the top right of any Järviwiki page and then the "Create an account" link on the login page. Enter your desired user name and password, as well as your e-mail address. If you would like to publish your contributions under your real name (or a pseudonym other than your Järviwiki user name), please enter it into the "Real name" field. If you leave this field blank, your edits and additions will be created for your user name instead.
Account verification
After entering your user information, click "Create account". If the desired user name is available, your account is now created and a verification message will be sent to your e-mail address. It contains an activation link, which you must click to confirm your registration.
Logging in
After registering, you can always log in by clicking "Log in/create account" and entering your credentials. Alternatively, you can choose the option "Remember my login on this computer" to be automatically logged in whenever you visit Järviwiki. Do not enable this option if you use Järviwiki from a public computer, e.g. in a library.
Restoring your password
If you have forgotten your password, you can order a new one by entering your user name on the login page and clicking "E-mail new password". Järviwiki will send you a temporary password, with which you can log in and create a new one.
